A surfer died after being rescued from the sea off Almeria on Friday, police have confirmed.
The man came into trouble near the Paseo del Mediterraneo in Mojacar, a resort popular with British tourists and expats.
The identity, age and nationality of the man have not been released by the authorities.
The alarm was raised at 11.25am when a witnessed called the 112 emergency hotline.
They reported that a person was being treated with CPR after being pulled out of the water.
According to local police, it has not yet been possible to determine the cause of death.
