Police searching for a missing Irish woman in Spain have employed the use of sniffer dogs as her disappearance prepares to enter its fourth day on Friday.
Merlene Davies, 50, has been missing from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, since at least July 7.
An appeal by Missing Persons Tenerife said she was expecting to meet her family at her home in Candelaria, but was nowhere to be found when they arrived.

The organisation told the Spanish Eye that the property is believed to be a townhouse.
A spokesperson said ‘the family are extremely worried’ and that the Guardia Civil ‘are taking it very seriously.’

The town of Candelaria is tucked away in the north east of the island, around a 35-minute drive from the popular tourist resort of Los Cristianos.
The appeal said: ‘Her exact departure time is unknown, but she was not there (at home) as expected that evening.
‘Her family has reported this to the police, who are conducting a physical search, including the use of dogs.
‘She is approximately 1.65m tall and of slim build.’
