A man and a woman armed with machetes robbed an Aldi supermarket in Malaga last night, it has emerged.
The pair, donning balaclavas, stormed the store shortly after 9pm on the Carretera de Coin in Cartama, an area popular with British expats.
At least one employee required medical attention after suffering a panic attack from the ordeal.
According to sources close to the investigation, the suspects entered the premises brandishing their bladed weapons and threatened staff before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made.

Several witnesses contacted emergency services shortly after the attack.
A 32-year-old woman was treated at the scene by paramedics after suffering an anxiety episode, but did not require hospitalisation.
The incident follows a separate attempted robbery last month at a bank branch Cartama.
On June 26, three individuals – two men and a woman – attempted to hold up a financial institution on Avenida de Andalucia.
Armed and wearing disguises, they managed to seize cash, but were intercepted by National Police as they left the premises. Investigators later confirmed the group had been under surveillance at the time.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Monday night’s robbery to come forward.
