A group of tourists have been branded ‘barbarians’ for dancing in a centuries-old fountain in the very hot city of Sevilla.
Footage shared on X this week shows almost a dozen people walking around the fountain in the heart of the Andalucia capital while laughing and singing songs.

The clip was shared local @jesusvermu, who wrote: ‘And they’ll keep trying to sell us the idea that in Sevilla we have quality tourism.
‘They’re not tourists, they’re barbarians who have no respect for our city.’

He added: ‘I live in one of the most tourist-filled neighbourhoods in the country, and every day we see our streets filled with urine, filth, and scenes more typical of Magaluf than the centre of Sevilla.
‘Perhaps the barbarians are a minority, but a noisy minority.’
While many agreed that the tourists, allegedly from Portugal, showed ‘little respect’, others said ‘it is not that serious.’
One Spaniard said: ‘What a silly thing! When we’ve been sightseeing around the world, we’ve all dipped our feet in a fountain because of the heat.
‘Every tourist has the right to cool off, and that doesn’t mean it’s quality or not.’
Jesus replied: ‘I don’t know where you’re from, but here in Sevilla, it is strictly forbidden to get into the fountains, under penalty of a fine.
‘The law must also apply to those who visit us; if I can’t get in, they shouldn’t either.’
