A dramatic lorry crash brought traffic to a standstill on one of Marbella’s busiest access points Friday afternoon.
A trailer laden with sand toppled over and sprawled across the A-355 roundabout.
The incident unfolded shortly after 2pm, leaving the main highway linking Ojen to Marbella gridlocked, as emergency crews scrambled to clear the wreckage.
According to sources cited by SUR, firefighters worked relentlessly to shift the massive load and reopen at least one lane to ease the mounting tailbacks.
No injuries were reported and the driver is understood to be unharmed.
The Guardia Civil and fire brigade were quick to respond, deploying machinery to lift the overturned trailer and scoop up the spilled sand, which had smothered both lanes of the carriageway.
The chaos primarily affected vehicles approaching Marbella via the A-7, with the roundabout sealed off entirely during the operation.
Even after the route was cleared, the Direccion General de Trafico (DGT) reported tailbacks stretching up to two kilometres as traffic slowly returned to normal.
