Huge water park opens its doors in Spain’s Andalucia TODAY – just in time for 40C heat

A huge water park will open its doors in Andalucia today, offering a major relief amid a 40C heatwave.

Agua Magica, in the heart of Sevilla, is now officially open for the summer season until September 28, guaranteeing 101 days of water-fuelled fun.

The 15,000sqm complex is part of the Isla Magica theme park and comes complete with slides, pools, palm trees and even a lazy river. It’s everything you’d expect from a tropical resort, minus the jet lag.

Adrenaline junkies can hurl themselves down high-speed slides, while the more laid-back can drift gently along ‘Rio Lento’ on oversized floats.

Over at Playa Quetzal – the park’s sandy centrepiece – visitors can kick back in loungers under parasols, or dive into the wave pool where the splash levels range from playful to powerful.

Meanwhile, El Arrecife offers a family-friendly pool zone complete with games and a zip line, while younger kids can run wild in a jet-filled splash park or Miniparaiso – a technicolour playground topped off with a giant tipping bucket.

Isla Magica is also quietly putting the finishing touches on a brand-new area within Agua Magica, although details remain scant.

Access to Agua Magica is bundled with admission to Isla Magica, meaning visitors can toggle between rollercoasters and water rides throughout the day.

Opening hours for Agua Magica run from 11.30am to 8pm, while the main park stays open until 11pm on weekends and weekdays from June 12 onward.

General entry into Isla Magica and Agua Magica is €52.80 per person, lowering to €41.80 for children aged between four and 10 and seniors over 60 – however substantial discounts can be enjoyed by buying online in advance.

As always, check the schedule before planning your visit – and don’t forget the sunscreen.
