At least 12 people have been injured following the collision of a bus and truck on the Costa del Sol.

The accident occurred in Torremolinos on the busy AP-7 motorway, in the direction of Cadiz, reports the 112 emergency service.

Paramedics said the injured included 11 people who were traveling on the bus, and the truck driver, who became trapped following the crash.

The crash took place at 12.58pm and caused traffic chaos for several hours.

The roads did not return to normal levels of traffic until around 4pm, according to the DGT.

The status of the injured remained unknown at the time of reporting.

Photos shared online showed how traffic was brought to a standstill by the incident.

Drivers and families were pictured getting out of their cars to stretch their legs, while trying to find out what was causing the huge tailbacks.
