The victim of the fatal car blaze in Benahavis was a Swedish expat, the Spanish Eye can reveal.
The 46-year-old father-of-one crashed his vehicle at around 8am on Tuesday morning.
Sources close to the individual told this newspaper that the car swerved and hit the entrance of a tunnel that runs underneath the AP-7.
The tunnel leads drivers to La Alqueria village in Benahavis, where the victim lived.

The impact of the collision caused the car to set on fire and become engulfed by flames.
It is not yet known if the driver became stuck and burned alive or if he died upon impact.
Photos taken by this newspaper show the vehicle completely torched, after having been moved to the side of the road by the authorities.
It still has police tape wrapped around it, while the inside of the car is completely melted.
The expat was believed to be travelling home when the horrific accident occurred.
His charred remains have been sent to Malaga for an autopsy.
