This is the moment a Fiat 500 was seen flipped onto its back in Marbella on Monday.

The small, red vehicle came into trouble while attempting to enter the security gate at the Campos de Guadalmina urbanisation, situated next to the Hotel Barcelo.

Residents told the Spanish Eye that they ‘cannot figure out’ how the car became overturned.

One said: ‘It’s a mystery, the stop sign doesn’t look damaged, nor do the hedges, we just can’t figure out how it happened.’

A witness said they heard an ‘almighty crash’ from their balcony and came down to find the car on its back.

The vehicle was being driven by a young woman who was seen visibly distressed by the side of the road.

A security guard said: ‘She’s okay, a bit shocked but she is fine and appears to have no injuries, she insisted she didn’t need an ambulance.’

Two Policia Local patrol cars were called to the scene, with a small section of a path near to the car being sealed off.

Officers were seen taking notes and chatting to the driver ahead of the tow car’s arrival.
