UPDATE: British marine Craig Ainsworth dies in Spain

Fears are growing for a British veteran who has disappeared in Spain after posting a ‘goodbye’ message online.

Craig Ainsworth, a former Royal Marine, is believed to be in the Barcelona area or in Alicante, on the Costa Blanca.

His mother Sally Ainsworth wrote in an appeal: ‘Missing Veteran Craig Ainsworth, my son.

‘Urgent, he could be in the Barcelona area or Alicante. He posted a last message on Facebook to say goodbye… the police are trying to track him.’

Craig posted the troubling message on Facebook this morning, sparking serious concern among family and friends.

The post was flooded with messages telling him he is ‘so loved’.

The British Embassy in Madrid has been contacted for comment.

Have you seen Craig? Email [email protected] who will pass on any tips to the family.
