A bus driver has tested positive for cocaine while transporting 12 children to school in Malaga province.

The suspect was stopped by the Guardia Civil while taking his usual route to a school in Ronda.

He was unable to prove that he had the necessary permissions to drive a school bus.

Officers then carried out alcohol and drugs tests at the scene, which detected cocaine in his system.

The cocaine discovery was later confirmed by further analysis at a lab, the Guardia Civil said.

The stop happened on March 14 at just 8.30am, and on the busy A-374 highway.

The driver was also charged for not presenting mandatory passenger insurance and for not displaying the V10 sign indicating that he is transporting schoolchildren or minors.
