The severe weather is not letting up in Andalucia on Friday, with multiple provinces remaining on alert for strong winds.
The warnings from state weather agency Aemet cover parts of Almeria, Granada and Jaen, with gusts to reach 100km/hr in the most exposed areas.
The storm is also affecting the coast, with warnings for rough seas along the Almeria and Granada shoreline.
Friday’s highest-level alerts focus on wind. Orange warnings are in place in several inland and mountainous areas of Almeria, Granada and Jaen, where gusts of 90 to 100km/h are expected, particularly during the afternoon and evening.
Along the coast, marine warnings remain active. In the most exposed periods, winds of 50 to 60km/h (force 7) and waves of three to four metres are forecast.
Almeria
In Almeria, a yellow wind warning is in place until mid-afternoon in areas such as the Almanzora Valley, Los Velez, Nacimiento and Campo de Tabernas.
From 3pm onwards, conditions worsen, with the alert upgraded to amber until midnight and gusts of up to 90km/h.
Elsewhere in the province – including Poniente, Almeria city and the eastern coastal areas – yellow warnings remain in force from late morning through to the end of the day, with gusts of 70–80km/h.
Marine conditions are also expected to deteriorate. A yellow warning for rough seas is active until early evening, before escalating to amber later on, with strong westerly winds and waves reaching four metres.
Granada
In Granada, the most severe conditions are forecast in the Nevada and Alpujarras areas, where an amber wind warning is in place from 6pm to midnight. Gusts of up to 100km/h are possible in exposed locations.
Yellow warnings also cover the Genil Basin, Guadix, Baza and the coast, where winds could reach 80km/h during the same period.
Granada’s coastline is under sea warnings in two separate windows: overnight into the early morning, and again from midday through to the evening. In both periods, forecasters expect strong westerly winds and waves of up to three metres.
Jaen
In Jaen, the Cazorla and Segura mountains are under an orange wind warning from 6pm to midnight, with gusts of up to 90km/h.
At the same time, yellow warnings apply to the Guadalquivir Valley, the provincial capital and surrounding mountain areas, where gusts may reach 80km/h, raising the risk of disruption, particularly for road travel and in wooded areas.
Authorities are urging caution, especially in exposed coastal and mountainous zones.
Strong winds can cause falling branches, debris on roads and hazardous conditions for high-sided vehicles, while rough seas pose a serious risk for maritime activity.
