Renfe has suspended all media-distancia trains between Malaga and Sevilla over safety concerns.

The decision was made on Sunday morning after a retaining wall next to the tracks was found to be at risk of collapse.

The wall in question is between the towns of Arahal and Marchena.

Renfe has organised replacement buses between Dos Hermanas and Malaga for media-distancia services.

Neither Adif nor Renfe has yet clarified when this incident will be resolved and, therefore, when service will be restored on this section of the line.

They have also not provided a count of the trains and passengers affected so far.

On Sundays, six medium-distance trains typically run between Malaga and Sevilla, and another six in the opposite direction.

The high-speed rail line between Malaga and Sevilla has not been affected, as they do not pass that section of the track.

Anyone with a media-distancia booking between Malaga and Sevilla is urged to check the status of their journey.
