Temperatures are plummeting across Spain this week, sparking a series of weather alerts nationwide – including in the typically warmer region of Andalucia.

The most severe conditions are in Parameras de Molina, Guadalajara, where a red alert has been issued for lows of -14C.

Andalucia records the coldest temperature in Spain with bone-chilling -17.3C

The warning, from state weather agency Aemet, is in place from 9pm on Tuesday until 8.59am on Wednesday.

Even the province of Sevilla – which surpasses 45C in the summer – hasn’t been spared from the cold snap, with a yellow alert for low temperatures issued over the same period.

Aemet is warning of lows of -1C overnight, with the eastern half of the Sevilla countryside to be the most affected.

The majority of Jaen province, plus Guadix and Baja in Granada are on the same alert, although lows could reach -4C over the same period.

The Cordoba countryside, meanwhile, will see lows of -2C, and is also on a yellow warning for minimum temperatures.

A weather alert was also issued along the Costa del Sol on Tuesday, warning of gusts of up to 70km/hr.

The yellow-level warning, meaning the danger level is ‘low’, was in place until 6pm on Tuesday.

It stretched across the whole Costa del Sol, encompassing Manilva, Estepona, Marbella, Fuengirola, Mijas, Malaga and Nerja.

In Fuengirola, a building was filmed severely damaged by the gales.
