A construction worker in Sevilla has been reunited with an envelope of cash he dropped in the Porvenir neighbourhood.

The money, handed in to the Policia Local, led to a viral social media appeal.

Officers said the man had been paid for part of a job in the area and accidentally lost the money on Calle Bogota.

When police publicised the discovery online on Thursday, the worker recognised the description and immediately got in touch.

On Friday morning, after confirming the details he provided, officers accompanied him to the town hall’s Lost Property Office, where the envelope had been stored since the previous day.

Local Police praised the ‘exemplary’ public response, noting that the widespread sharing of their appeal helped resolve the case within just 24 hours.
