MULTIPLE flights have been forced to abandon their landing at Malaga airport due to strong winds.

Footage shared by Meteo365 on X showed at least two aircraft unable to land on the Costa del Sol runway on Wednesday.

It came as Storm Nuria began blowing into southern and western Spain, with the worst of the weather expected on Thursday.

The footage shows how a Lufthansa and Eurowings flight, from Munich and Cologne respectively, struggle to line up on the runway while carrying out their descent.

Just as they are due to make contact with the tarmac, they take back up to the skies.

While rain and winds are forecast for Thursday along the Costa del Sol, there are no alerts for extreme conditions.

The Canary Islands, however, have been warned of hurricane winds of up to 130km/hr.

In La Palma, a red alert has been issued for the eastern half of the island, meaning there is an extreme risk to safety.
