A British resident in Spain has lauded the healthcare system for something that she ‘could not imagine’ in the UK.

Carley Chaplin lives in Catalonia with her family, from where she shares TikTok videos about day-to-day life in the region.

In one of her most recent clips, dated November 24, she claimed she received multiple calls from her local GP, as they wanted to book her in for tests.

She said: ‘Four missed calls from my local doctor’s surgery over four separate days – and it wasn’t even urgent.

‘They were calling to book me in for a routine blood test I’d completely forgotten about.

‘No sitting on hold, just a call-back within half an hour and a genuinely proactive approach from the public system, not private care.’

Ever Had Your Doctor Chase You For A Routine Checkup? Spain Does. Four missed calls from my local doctor’s surgery over four separate days – and it wasn’t even urgent. They were calling to book me in for a routine blood test I’d completely forgotten about. No sitting on hold, just a call-back within half an hour and a genuinely proactive approach from the public system, not private care. It made me realise how different everyday healthcare feels here compared to the UK, where I can’t imagine being chased repeatedly for something so routine. It’s these small, unexpected differences that shape what life in Spain really looks like behind the glossy Instagram version. #LifeInSpain #SpanishHealthcare #LivingInSpain #ExpatLifeSpain #MoveToSpain
