A lorry driver is recovering in hospital after his vehicle overturned on the Costa del Sol’s AP-7 toll road on Thursday.
The dramatic crash occured near the Torremolinos exit for the MA-20 in the morning.
The vehicle, which was carrying waste, reportedly lost control for reasons still under investigation and came off the road after hitting noise-reduction panels that were in the process of being installed.
Part of its load spilled across one of the lanes.
The driver, a 39-year-old man, was taken to Malaga’s Hospital Clínico but is not believed to be seriously injured, according to Andalucía’s 112 emergency service.
Sources close to the incident told Malaga Hoy that the crash did not lead to significant traffic delays, as maintenance crews were able to clear the affected lane quickly.

The lorry itself was left badly damaged and remains on the hard shoulder. It is expected to be removed overnight to avoid disruption, as the operation will require a temporary closure of the motorway.
The collision also damaged the newly installed noise-barrier panels, which were torn down by the impact.
These structures are designed to limit the spread of traffic noise, acting as a protective barrier between the road and nearby residential areas.
Despite the dramatic nature of the rollover, the driver sustained only minor injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
