A waste plant caught fire on the Costa del Sol late on Friday night, in what was already a difficult evening for firefighters in the region.
The blaze broke out at the plant in Casares and ‘spread rapidly through the facility’, authorities said.
The town hall said in a statement at around midnight: ‘A fire broke out tonight at the waste plant, located in the municipality of Casares.
‘The fire has spread rapidly throughout the facility, although it has not yet reached the neighboring properties.
