Dozens of squatters have been removed from a beach encampment in Marbella to make way for the long-awaited Four Seasons resort.

Footage shared online shows multiple riot vans from the Policia Nacional parked up by Pinillo Beach, following an evacuation order made by Marbella’s Investigative Court No. 5.

The former campsite has been occupied by several families for years after it was left abandoned and crumbling.

This morning, they had to remove their belongings amid a large police presence in the area. The zone is part of the planned five-star Four Seasons Grand Luxe hotel.

The macro-resort will feature a hotel, two beach clubs, villas, apartments, ‘restaurant village’ and more.

Police said the area was evacuated ‘without incident’ and with no arrests.

By mid-morning, there were barely any traces of the police operation, with a few mattresses piled up on one of the fences outside the campsite.

Inside, several people have remained to guard the site, which has been taken over by an access control company.

The former campsite is planning to house one of the beach clubs for the Four Seasons Marbella hotel project, promoted by businessman and developer Ricardo Arranz.

This project includes the construction of a 5-star Grand Luxury tourist establishment, as well as luxury homes, with an expected investment of at least €650 million.

The resort is a collaboration between Miami-based Fort Partners and Belgian investment fund Immobel.

Of the total surface area, 103,000 square meters will be dedicated to public infrastructure, including cultural centres and sports facilities. Additional land will be converted into green areas, with landscaped parks and gardens forming a key part of the urban layout.

The heart of the development will house a 486-unit resort complex and a luxury hotel operated by Four Seasons.

Construction is expected to take between two and three years, generating approximately 4,000 jobs, both direct and indirect, across multiple sectors, including construction, hospitality, retail, and maintenance.
