A 38-year-old tourist has died while swimming in the sea off Cadiz in southern Spain.
The tragedy unfolded at around 6pm Monday on the Santa Maria del Mar beach, according to municipal sources and the 112 Emergency Service.
The man was pulled from the water after a woman reported that someone was floating face down.
Beach lifeguards and emergency services rescued the man and performed CPR for half an hour, but he ultimately died.
The man was at the beach with his parents, an Italian family, according to municipal sources.
A yellow flag, indicating caution when swimming, had been flying at the beach.
