The white village of Casares is preparing to host a full weekend of food, culture and live entertainment with the return of its popular ‘Degusta Casares’ festival.
Taking place on April 18 and 19, the event will transform the town’s streets and squares into a vibrant open-air showcase of local cuisine, artisan crafts and music.
At the heart of the festival is Casares’ rich culinary heritage.
Visitors can follow the much-anticipated goat meat tapas route, celebrating one of the area’s most iconic products, or sample recipes at the gazpacho casareño competition, where locals go head-to-head to present the most authentic version of the traditional dish.
Organisers are also embracing innovation, with creative offerings such as sushi made using locally sourced ingredients, blending global trends with Andalusian produce.
Eat, learn and experience
Beyond tasting, the festival offers plenty of hands-on experiences.
There will be live show cooking sessions with guest chefs, alongside workshops and demonstrations of traditional food production – including cheese-making and the preparation of local morcilla.
Classic staples of Andalucian culture will also be on display, from jamon carving to artisan honey and pleita (traditional esparto grass weaving), showcasing the region’s deep-rooted craftsmanship.
More than just food
The programme also includes live music, guided historical routes through the village and a gastroludoteca – a food-themed play area designed to keep younger visitors entertained.
