Morante de la Puebla is set to make a high-profile return to Marbella this summer with two headline appearances.
Fans of the bloodsport are buzzing as the Costa del Sol town continues to re-establish itself as a key stop on the Spanish bullfighting calendar.
The Sevilla-born matador will take to the ring at the Plaza de Toros de Marbella on June 13 and again on August 7, in what organisers are billing as a major double event.
The August date will mark the return of the traditional ‘Corrida de los Candiles’, staged at night with special staging and atmosphere, while the June fight will form part of Marbella’s annual feria.
Return after record-breaking 2025 performance
Morante already left a lasting mark on Marbella last year, delivering one of the most talked-about performances of the season.
He not only packed out the arena for the first time in 41 years, but was awarded two ears and a tail in a ‘standout performance’, reports bullfighting publication Mundo Toro.
The event was broadcast live on Canal Sur, drawing a 20.7% audience share, which is a rare figure for a bullfight and a sign of the enduring pull of top-tier names.

Marbella’s bullring revival gathers pace
The renewed push comes under promoter Arenal Marbella Toros, led by figures including Fermín Bohorquez and Miguel Baez Litri, who took over the venue in 2024 after it had remained closed for more than a decade.
Their aim has been to restore Marbella as a summer bullfighting destination, not just for local fans, but also for the influx of visitors.
