A 43-year-old Local Police officer in Marbella has died after suffering a suspected heart attack while training at the force’s headquarters.
The incident happened around midday on Monday inside the gym facilities of the Policia Local de Marbella, where the officer was preparing for a physical test linked to a specialist intervention course.
According to local newspaper Malaga Hoy, the officer suddenly went into cardiac arrest while exercising.
Emergency services were immediately alerted and began CPR at the scene, with resuscitation efforts continuing for around two hours.
Despite their attempts, medics were unable to revive him and later confirmed his death.
While the exact cause has yet to be officially confirmed, early indications point to a heart attack.
The officer was married and leaves behind a young daughter.
The death has sent shockwaves through the local police force, with colleagues describing deep sadness at the sudden loss of a serving officer.
