An alleged international crime boss with links to the Costa del Sol is set to be extradited to Spain after being dramatically arrested in Bali.
Steven Lyons, who authorities believe is the ringleader of a sprawling criminal network, was detained on Saturday at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport after arriving on a flight from Singapore.
His arrest came on the same day his wife, Amanda Lyons, was tracked down and detained in Dubai.
Indonesian officials confirmed Lyons was wanted over alleged offences committed in Spain and had been flagged on an Interpol alert.
Police are also hunting two associates who arrived with him in Bali but managed to evade capture.
Untung Widyatmoko, secretary of Indonesia’s Interpol office, said the criminal group Lyons is allegedly linked to operated across multiple countries, including Spain, Scotland, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Turkey.
Immigration authorities in Bali said Lyons is ‘strongly suspected’ of being the head of an international crime network, accusing him of controlling a web of front companies and being involved in large-scale money laundering.

Police Scotland confirmed it is aware of the arrest of a Scottish national in Bali and is working closely with European partners as part of the investigation.
Images released after his capture show Lyons being escorted through the airport by officers in casual clothing before later appearing in custody wearing an orange jumpsuit with his hands bound.
The arrest forms part of a wider international operation that has also seen coordinated raids in Scotland and Spain.
In Scotland, eight men aged between 35 and 64 were arrested in locations including Glasgow, Bellshill, Cumbernauld, Gartcosh, Caldercruix, Coatbridge and East Whitburn on suspicion of organised crime offences.
Meanwhile in Spain, five people were detained in simultaneous operations in Malaga and Barcelona.

Europol has also confirmed the seizure of assets linked to the network, including a villa worth around £600,000 and two plots of land in Turkey.
Lyons also has a direct connection to the Costa del Sol. He is the brother of Eddie Lyons, who was shot dead in Fuengirola on May 31, 2025, alongside Ross Monaghan while the pair were watching the Champions League final.
According to investigators, the suspected gunman in that double murder is Michael Riley, who remains behind bars in Alhaurin de la Torre prison awaiting trial.
