Firefighters were called out in the early hours of Monday after a blaze broke out at a popular beach bar in Estepona.
The fire started in the chimney system of the Sonora chiringuito, catching the venue off guard in the middle of the night.
Emergency services confirmed the fire was concentrated in the smoke extraction system, specifically within the chimney flue – a type of fire that can be particularly difficult to control.
Crews from the Provincial Fire Brigade were dispatched from Estepona and quickly got to work tackling the flames.
Firefighters said the flames repeatedly reignited on the roof, forcing them to extend the operation and carefully monitor the structure to prevent the fire from spreading or flaring up again.
They remained at the scene until the fire was fully extinguished and the building was safe.

The fire was brought under control without any reported injuries or additional damage.
The cause of the blaze has not been confirmed, but chimney fires are often linked to a build-up of grease or residue in extraction systems.
