Thousands of self-employed workers and small businesses in Andalucia are set to receive financial support after last month’s storms.
The measures will be signed off on Wednesday (March 18), during a regional cabinet meeting in Huelva and form part of the ‘Andalucía Actua’ plan aimed at easing the economic blow caused by the severe weather.
The announcement was made by regional president Juanma Moreno during an economic forum in Sevilla, where he outlined how the funding will be distributed.
Up to €350 per worker
Under the plan, affected self-employed workers will receive €200 per month for up to 10 months.
Those with employees, along with small and medium-sized businesses, will be eligible for €350 per month for each worker on their payroll, also for a 10-month period.
The aid is designed to help offset losses suffered during the worst of the storms that hit the region, with particular impact on sectors such as agriculture and other primary industries.
Focus on recovery after storm damage
The regional government says the goal is to provide immediate financial relief while helping businesses recover from the disruption caused by heavy rain, flooding and strong winds.
Many companies, especially in rural and coastal areas, reported significant losses following the adverse weather conditions.
Strong economic figures
Moreno said Andalucia’s GDP has grown by 12.9% between 2019 and 2025, while the region now has around 540,000 active businesses, making it the second-largest in Spain by number of companies.
Exports have also reached record levels, surpassing €40 billion for the first time, while foreign investment between 2019 and 2024 has exceeded €5 billion, double the amount recorded in the previous six-year period.
He said Andalucia is now more confident and aware of its economic potential, arguing that its economy is comparable to that of some European countries.
‘If we stay on this path, Andalucia will become the leading region in Spain,’ he said.
