A 74-year-old man has been found dead inside his home in Torremolinos.
The victim’s body was found on the morning of March 16 after relatives had been unable to contact him for several days.
The concerned family had asked a neighbour who had a spare set of keys to check on him.
When the neighbour, who was reportedly a friend of the victim, entered the property, he immediately found the man dead inside the living room.
The victim was sitting on a sofa and there were visible blood stains around him, prompting the neighbour to call emergency services.
Paramedics arrived shortly after but could do nothing to save him and confirmed he had already died.
Early signs point to violent death
According to initial findings, the man had multiple injuries to his face and other parts of his head, suggesting he may have died as a result of the blows.
However, the exact cause of death will be determined by a post-mortem examination.
Investigators believe the victim may have been dead for several days before his body was discovered.
Suspect arrested
Police have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with the case.
Sources say the suspect was found hiding within the same building where the victim lived.
He remains in police custody while the investigation continues.
