Fed up expats are demanding action after allegedly having their Costa del Sol homes repeatedly hit by golf balls.
Residents living next to the Alhaurin Golf Club told the Spanish Eye this week that they are ‘living a nightmare’ and are in ‘constant’ fear of being struck.
They claim they have been calling for better fencing or other protective measures for years, but have been repeatedly ‘brushed off’ or ignored by the golf club.
Images shared with this newspaper show damaged roof tiles and door frames, allegedly caused by golf balls flying into back gardens.
‘My wife was hanging out the washing and a ball came flying right past her and hit our terrace door, it could have hit our baby,’ one furious Dutch father told this paper.
‘We have two young children and can’t even use our garden out of fear of someone getting seriously hurt.
‘We really don’t know what to do anymore, no one is interested in helping us.’
The dad said there around 20 residents affected, including British expats.
‘To be in your home and not have that safe feeling, I don’t think people realise how stressful and awful that is,’ he added.
‘We don’t have authority to erect a fence ourselves, and not everyone can afford to chip in even if we could.’
The expat said he went to the town hall last week to demand answers, and that they vowed to send the local police to carry out an inspection, but they have yet to show up.
‘Then, when we went to the police yesterday to make a denuncia, they said they cannot do anything because it’s a private golf club… it’s madness!’
The Spanish Eye contacted management of the golf course, but did not get a response.
Alhaurin el Grande Town Hall has also been contacted for comment.

It’s not the first time homes have been threatened by golf balls.
In 2024, the golf course in Altorreal in Molina de Segura, Murcia, was taken to court by local residents.
They, too, claimed their homes had been damaged by balls and were demanding better protections.
The local court ruled in their favour and ordered the club to plant tall trees by hole 2, and to erect protective fencing. They also had to pay for damages to the properties.
Residents in Alhaurin Golf are hoping to reach an agreement with the golf club before taking the legal route via the courts.
