Body of man in his 50s found on conveyer belt of waste treatment plant on the Costa del Sol

According to reports, employees spotted the body on one of the conveyor belts used to transport and sort rubbish inside the plant.

A body has been discovered at a waste treatment facility in Casares.

The corpse, believed to belong to a man in his 50s, was found by workers during the early hours of Wednesday.

According to reports, employees spotted the body on one of the conveyor belts used to transport and sort rubbish inside the plant.

Emergency services were alerted at 8.45am after a call was made to Andalucia’s 112 control centre reporting the discovery.

Guardia Civil officers and medical services were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Plant workers quickly stopped the machinery to preserve potential evidence while waiting for emergency teams to arrive.

Authorities have so far confirmed only that the deceased is a man, but no further details about his identity or possible injuries have been released.

Investigators are now trying to determine how the body ended up inside the facility.

The Guardia Civil is leading the investigation.
