This is the moment a man allegedly had a €700,000 watch snatched off his wrist at a petrol station on the Costa del Sol.
Footage shared online this week shows the incident unfold at the Saladillo garage in Estepona.
The CCTV footage, dated February 26 of this year, shows a red car pulling into the forecourt before the driver gets out to begin filling up his car.
A man wearing a flat cap then walks from across the road and onto the forecourt before standing by the petrol station’s entrance while looking at the red car.
He looks at his watch and phone while keeping an eye on the car and its driver.
Then, as the driver goes to get in his car to leave, the thief grabs his wrist, allegedly managing to release the watch before fleeing on foot.
He is seen attempting to jump into a getaway car while being chased onto the road.
The footage was shared by Relojes Prestige, a local company that deals with designer watches.
The timepiece that was stolen was allegedly at Richard Mille valued at more than €700,000.
Tourists visiting the Costa del Sol are advised to not wear such designer items out in busy tourist areas.
There are countless gangs across Spain dedicated solely to stealing high-value jewellery items, especially watches.
