Pedro Sanchez has become the unlikely star of a controversial artwork after a painting depicting the Spanish prime minister completely naked went on display in a Madrid gallery.
The piece, titled ‘Adan y Eva’ (Adam and Eve), portrays a man and woman standing nude in a natural setting.
According to reports, the male figure is artistically modelled on Sanchez, while the female figure is believed to represent his wife Begoña Gomez.
The painting quickly caused a stir after being discussed on Spanish TV show Vamos a ver, which sent a reporter to the gallery where the artwork is currently being exhibited.
At first, the programme chose to digitally censor the intimate parts of the painting during the broadcast.
However, the show later displayed the artwork in full, sparking laughter and surprise among the panel due to the male figure’s large private member.

One commentator on the programme jokingly remarked that the portrait of the prime minister appeared ‘very well endowed’, prompting further jokes in the studio.
The reporter covering the gallery visit admitted she had no explanation for how the artist decided on the details, which only added to the light-hearted reaction on set.
The painting was created by an Italian artist and is on display in a gallery in El Rastro de Madrid, an open-air flea market in the historic La Latina neighbourhood.
