A sudden hailstorm hit parts of Malaga province on Wednesday as Storm Regina moved across the region.
The heaviest hail was recorded in Antequera around 12.30pm, where the icy pellets fell so heavily they began to pile up on the ground.
State weather agency Aemet had already warned the storm could bring hail, thunderstorms and heavy rain to parts of the province.
Malaga remained under a yellow weather warning for rain and storms, affecting the Costa del Sol and Guadalhorce Valley areas until 6pm on Wednesday.
Although the northern part of the province was not included in the warning, showers also swept through those areas – including Antequera – with some rain mixed with dust, leaving patches of muddy residue.
Forecasters say Regina would have its strongest impact on Wednesday, before gradually moving away from the area by Thursday.
For now, no weather alerts have been issued for Malaga province on Thursday, although another weather front is expected to arrive on Friday.
The storm has also brought a noticeable drop in temperatures across the province.
After recent highs above 20C, maximum temperatures on Wednesday are expected to reach around 16C on the coast, while inland areas will be cooler – about 14C in Antequera and 12C in Ronda.
