A retired nurse has been found dead ‘with signs of violence’ at her inland Malaga home.
The unnamed woman, 66, was discovered by her son in the Sierra Llana urbanisation in Cartama on Monday afternoon.
He raised the alarm at 1.35pm after allegedly arriving at the property to find his mother already deceased.
According to local reports, the home appeared ransacked and the victim showed signs consistent with a violent death, with early indications suggesting she may have suffered a severe blow to the head.
Although the scene initially points towards a possible robbery, investigators are keeping all hypotheses open as the case remains in its early stages.
The woman, a Spanish national, had recently retired after working as a nurse.
She had reportedly been widowed not long ago and had one son – the same who allegedly discovered the body.
Guardia Civil officers and Local Police attended the property but could only confirm the death and activate judicial protocol.

The body has been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) for a full post-mortem examination, which is expected to clarify the exact cause and circumstances of death.
Meanwhile, officers continue to comb the property for forensic evidence, with the street cordoned off as part of the ongoing investigation.
