An elderly couple have been mugged while out walking in Mijas.
According to the Guardia Civil, the victims, described as ‘foreign’, were targeted at 7.30pm in Calahonda on Monday (February 16).
The area is hugely popular with British expats and tourists.
The couple told police they felt that a car had been following them for some time before it suddenly pulled in front of them to block their path.
One of the occupants jumped out and grabbed the man to snatch his watch off his wrist.
The timepiece was an imitation of a luxury Patek Philippe.
The man did not let it go without a fight and a struggle ensued. During the altercation the man fell against his own car, causing damage to the vehicle. He did not suffer any injuries.
The suspects fled the scene in the same vehicle used to block the couple’s path.
An investigation is now underway to identify and locate those responsible.
