The incident happened at around 10.15am on Friday in the rural area known as Camino de la Barca.

According to Civil Protection, the elderly man had stepped out of his vehicle to help clear a fallen tree blocking the road.

As he and another person attempted to move it, a second large tree suddenly came down and struck him.

Paramedics, Guardia Civil officers and firefighters were sent to the scene. The man was rescued and taken in a serious condition to the Hospital Infanta Santa Margarita in Cabra.

Despite efforts to save him, he died at around 7am on Saturday.

An investigation is expected to clarify the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
