Brits heading to southern Spain on Saturday suffered hair-raising flights and aborted landings amid fierce winds brought on by Storm Oriana.
Travellers took to social media to praise the pilots for their ‘heroic’ efforts, after they landed planes in rough conditions that saw gusts of winds of up to 90km/hr.
One passenger Lynsey wrote: ‘Arrived in Murcia today for a three-day break. Honestly the worst flight I’ve ever been on, the turbulence at one point was terrible…
‘First landing aborted just as we were about to touch down then flying around whilst the decision was being made wether to try again or land elsewhere…
‘Second attempt successful but very scary, lots of hyperventilating and upset people, those pilots really do have some serious skills. First time ive ever actually joined in with clapping when a plane lands!’
On X, one passenger said: ‘Biggest shout out ever to the pilots and crew on flight EZY 2327 Luton to Murcia this morning.
‘Landing on the second attempt in horrifically windy conditions. Max and Karen, brilliant crew. Thank you for getting us here in one piece.’
Charlotte Clarke added: ‘We were on the same flight… I think it is going to take my daughter a while to get over it, she made good use of the sick bags!’

Lynsey said: ‘We had a little girl behind us who was having a panic attack, poor little thing… those sudden drops was like having one of those falling dreams… except while you were awake!’
Fran Mur added: ‘My daughter just landed in Alicante and had the same experience lots of people scared but luckily nothing happened, I admire the pilots!’
The region of Murcia will remain on alert for strong winds until at least midnight on Saturday night.
Yellow and orange warnings have been issued by state weather agency Aemet for gusts of up to 90km/hr.
