Tragedy was narrowly avoided on the A-7 motorway after a car smashed into two wild boar in the early hours of Saturday.
Emergency services said the crash happened at around 2.45am on the stretch near El Palo heading towards Malaga city.
Despite the serious impact, there were no reported injuries. Road maintenance crews were quickly sent to the scene to clear away the animals, while the Guardia Civil were also alerted.
It’s not the first time the animals have caused chaos in Malaga.
In recent years wild boar have increasingly strayed into built-up areas, alarming residents and putting both drivers and pedestrians at risk.
Last year, Malaga City Council’s environmental department announced plans to step up measures to curb the growing number of wild boar and feral pigs wandering into neighbourhoods close to woodland.
The eastern districts of the city and Ciudad Jardin have been particularly affected.
