This is the dramatic moment a woman had to be lifted via crane to safety after her car became stuck in a stream in Estepona.

Footage shared by firefighters showed how the driver’s black vehicle had become trapped below the A-7.

According to the firefighting consortium, the car came into trouble while trying to cross the river.

It said: ‘Our team from Estepona successfully rescued a woman trapped in a car, with water halfway up the wheels, after attempting to cross the Guadalmansa River in the same municipality.’

The woman was not injured and was not believed to be in immediate danger after getting stuck.

It comes after multiple drivers complained that their tyres had been blown out by potholes on the A-7 between Marbella and Estepona over the weekend.

Marbella town hall said in response that it has launched an emergency plan to fix the extensive damage caused by weeks of rain.

The project will cost almost half a million euros and will focus on more than 200 potholes across the municipality.
