A British father-of-two has died after falling from the sixth floor of a hotel on the Costa del Sol.

The 37-year-old was holidaying with his wife and two young children when the tragedy occurred in Torremolinos on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called in the early hours to reports of a man having fallen from a hotel balcony.

Arriving paramedics could do nothing to save the Brit, and his body was removed from the scene to be taken for an autopsy.

The Policia Nacional is now leading the investigation into his death.

His children are both aged under 10, local reports said. The name of the hotel has not been revealed.

The investigation suggests that the couple had been drinking alcohol and, at some point, separated, reports Diario Sur.

According to the wife’s testimony, she went to their room to sleep, and he remained alone on the balcony, at which point he fell to his death.

In her police statement, she insisted that the death was an accident. The investigation continues.
