With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, few gifts beat a romantic getaway.
According to Traveler magazine, Andalucia is home to some of Spain’s most romantic towns, and four destinations made its national list last year.
Below is where love is very much in the air (and hopefully, the seemingly endless storms will be over by February 14).
Mijas (Malaga)
Whitewashed houses, flower-filled streets and panoramic viewpoints make Mijas pueblo one of Andalucia’s most charming villages.
Its historic old town, with its Moorish street layout and remains of ancient walls now turned into gardens, feels tailor-made for slow, hand-in-hand strolls.
One of Mijas’s biggest draws is its mild climate, meaning even February often feels pleasantly spring-like (although this year isn’t quite delivering mild just yet).
Highlights include the oval bullring, the Church of the Immaculate Conception, and the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Peña, carved into the rock in the 17th century.
Art lovers can also explore small but notable museums, including a contemporary art centre featuring works linked to Picasso, Miro and Dali.
Ronda (Malaga)

Few places in Spain are as instantly romantic as Ronda, famously adored by Ernest Hemingway.
Dramatically perched above the El Tajo gorge, the town feels suspended between sky and stone.
Its iconic Puente Nuevo, soaring nearly 100 metres above the Guadalevín river, connects the historic old town with the newer Mercadillo district.
Beyond the bridge, Ronda’s appeal lies in its grand palaces, hidden squares and Arab baths, as well as its deep cultural legacy.
The historic bullring – one of the oldest in Spain – is central to the town’s identity. For an unforgettable night, Traveler recommends staying at the Parador, sitting right on the edge of the cliff.
Vejer de la Frontera (Cadiz)

Set on a hilltop overlooking the Atlantic, Vejer de la Frontera is a storybook white village of winding alleys, flower-filled patios and sweeping views across La Janda.
While its nearby El Palmar beaches attract summer crowds, Vejer is especially magical outside peak season, when its calm, intimate atmosphere shines.
Food plays a big role in the romance here, with local specialities such as retinto beef, lomo en manteca and Moorish-inspired pastries.
Traveler suggests embracing the steep streets – or even hopping on the tourist train – before enjoying a candlelit meal at the atmospheric El Jardin del Califa.
Olvera (Cadiz)

Olvera’s romance comes with a dramatic backdrop. Declared a Historic-Artistic Site, the town is crowned by a 13th-century Moorish castle and the striking Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation, both dominating the skyline.
Traveler highlights the pink-hued skies at sunrise, best enjoyed from the old Villa quarter or along the Calzada street.
For panoramic views, couples can walk from Plaza de Andalucia to the Sacred Heart viewpoint, while just outside the town lies the peaceful Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios.
