Emergency alerts were sent to thousands of mobile phones on Tuesday night warning of extreme incoming weather.
The so-called ES-Alert message was pinged to people in 47 municipalities, mostly where a red weather alert is set to come into force.
The Serrania de Ronda and Grazalema region of Cadiz are both on the most serious of warnings from state weather agency Aemet between midnight on Tuesday night and until at least 11.59pm on Wednesday.
Andalucia president Juanma Moreno, had earlier warned that the alert would be sent to phones at around 8pm (it ultimately arrived at 8.24pm).
The 15 municipalities in the Grazalema zone to get the alert were: Alcala del Valle, Algodonales, Benaocaz, El Bosque, El Gastor, Grazalema, Jimena de la Frontera, Olvera, Prado del Rey, Puerto Serrano, Setenil de las Bodegas, Torre Alhamique, Ubrique, Villaluengo del Rosario, and Zahara.
Six other towns in Cadiz province also recieved the alert to phones, all of them in the Strait of Gibraltar: Algeciras, Los Barrios, Castellar de la Frontera, La Linea de la Concepcion, San Roque, and Tarifa.
Meanwhile, in the Serrania de Ronda, 26 municipalities were sent the alarm: Algatocin, Alpandeire, Ardales, Arriate, Atajate, Benadalid, Benalauria, Benaojan, Benarraba, El Burgo, Cartajima, Cortes de la Frontera, Cuevas del Becerro, Farajan, Gaucin, Genalguacil, Igualeja, Jimera de Libar, Jubrique, Juzcar, Montejaque, Parauta Pujerra, Ronda, Montecorto, and Serrato.
Moreno did not rule out sending the alert to other areas of Andalucia.
The Partido Popular leader said the danger posed by the storm could change at any moment overnight.
It means areas currently under an orange warning, including the Costa del Sol or wider Cadiz and parts of Granada, could be upgraded to red.
