WATCH: Locals blown away by winds as Storm Leonardo tears through Andalucia

This is the moment locals in Jaen were forcibly moved by the fierce winds brought on by Storm Leonardo on Monday.

Footage shared on X shows one woman being struggling to stand as she is pushed across the pavement before being carried to safety by two men.

Another clip shows two woman leaning against a wall in Jaen city, using all their strength to not be blown away.

One of the women is seen clutching onto her wheelie shopping basket as it threatens to get picked up by the strong gusts.

Much of Jaen had been placed on a yellow warning for strong winds on Monday morning, with warnings they could reach up to 80km/hr or more in local areas.

It comes a series of Atlantic storms are set to roll into Andalucia this week, with the worst of the weather to arrive on Wednesday.

A feared red alert has been issued for parts of Cadiz on that day.

The most serious warning, which means there is an extraordinary risk to life, is in place in the Grazalema region of Cadiz throughout the whole of Wednesday.

State weather agency Aemet is warning of up to 200 litres of rainfall in 24 hours, in what is threatening to cause serious flooding.

It comes after Cadiz last week saw 600 people evacuated from their homes while under an orange alert for rainfall.

Meanwhile, in Malaga, an orange warning is in place in the Ronda region for the entirety of Wednesday.

Aemet predicts more than 150 litres of rain could accumulate over the 24-hour period. Simultaneously, Ronda will be on a yellow warning for strong winds of up to 80km/hr.

Elsewhere in Cadiz on Wednesday, orange alerts for heavy rainfall cover the whole coastline, encompassing Cadiz city, Barbate and Algeciras – plus inland areas of Jerez and Arcos de la Frontera.

It comes after devastating floods in rural areas of Jerez last week saw hundreds of people evacuated from their homes after the Guadalete river burst its banks.

Weather alerts for Ronda region of Malaga on Wednesday

On the Costa del Sol, yellow warnings are in place for heavy rain and 80km/hr winds throughout Wednesday.

The same warnings are in place for the whole of Granada province, the southern half of Cordoba province and parts of Jaen province.

In Almeria, a yellow alert for heavy rain and 80km/hr winds is in effect along the western half of its coastline and in the Almanzora valley and Los Velez.
