Cuco became trapped after accidentally falling from the viewpoint of the Buddhist Stupa in Benalmadena on Saturday.

This is the moment a much-loved family dog had to be rescued by firefighters after falling down a cliff on the Costa del Sol.

Cuco became trapped after accidentally falling from the viewpoint of the Buddhist Stupa in Benalmadena on Saturday.

The pup had been enjoying a walk with his family, who quickly called emergency services.

With careful coordination and specialist equipment, firefighters were able to reach Cuco and bring him back to safety without putting his life, or that of bystanders, at risk.

Photos show the anxious dog being carried in a special sack on the back of a firefighter.

After several tense minutes, Cuco was safely reunited with his relieved owners.

Cuco appeared unharmed and was checked before being handed back to his family, who thanked the rescue team for their calm and professional handling of the incident.
