Yet another train incident has left multiple people injured in Spain.
The latest incident occured in Murcia on Thursday, when a passenger train on the Cartagena-Los Nietos line collided with a ‘grua’.
A ‘grua’ is either a crane or a tow truck, although it is not yet clear what type of vehicle came to be on the track.
According to La Opinion de Murcia, while several people are injured, they are believed to be light injuries at the time of reporting.
A large emergency response team was deployed to the scene, which occurred around noon.
The collision happened near the ‘Los Partidas’ station, between the Cartagena district of Alumbres and the municipality of La Union.
The cause of the accident and the total number of injured are currently unknown.
According to reports, residents near the accident site had repeatedly complained that it was a ‘dangerous stretch of track’ because ‘it’s not signposted or regulated by traffic lights.’
They said that ‘to know if a train is coming, you simply have to listen for it.’
It comes as trust in Spain’s rail network is plummeting following a series of tragic incidents.
A collision on Sunday evening in Adamuz, Cordoba, has left 43 people dead.
Two more crashes were then recorded in Catalonia on Tuesday evening, killing a young driver from Sevilla and injuring dozens of passengers.
