A forest fire which broke out in the Andalucian province of Almeria overnight has been stabilised.

Photos shared by firefighters showed walls of flames spreading through the Cerro del Cinto region of Nijar.

According to the regional firefighting service INFOCA, the inferno was declared at 8.30pm on Wednesday.

Multiple ground troops of forest firefighters tackled the flames on the ground overnight.

In an update shortly after midnight, INFOCA said the flames had been stabilised.
