Andalucía has reopened applications for the Bono Alquiler Joven, the rental aid aimed at young people.
It comes after the region secured an extra €34.2 million in funding for the scheme.
The new application window opens this Tuesday (January 13) at 4pm and will remain open until 15,000 new applications are reached.
Here’s a clear breakdown of what the scheme is, who can apply and how it works.
What is the Bono Alquiler Joven?
The Bono Alquiler Joven is a monthly rental subsidy of €250 designed to help young people afford private rented accommodation.
The scheme is managed by the Junta de Andalucía, through its Consejería de Fomento, Articulación del Territorio y Vivienda, but is funded with money transferred from the Spanish state.
Why is the application window reopening?
The Junta designed the scheme so that it could be opened and closed flexibly, depending on available funding.
Now that additional state funds have arrived, Andalucia has reopened the call to allow up to 15,000 new applications, on top of the 8,500 applications already processed in 2025.
Applications will close again once the cap is reached.
How much money can you get?
- €250 per month
- Paid for a maximum of two years
- The aid is personal, not per household
Who can apply?
You can apply if you meet all of the following conditions:
- Aged 18 to 35 (inclusive)
- You earn up to 3× IPREM as an individual
- You earn up to 4× IPREM as a family unit (IPREM is Spain’s public income reference index)
- You must be renting a home or a room
- The property must be your main and permanent residence
- This must be proven with municipal registration (empadronamiento)

Rent price limits (very important)
Your rent must fall below the maximum limits, which vary by municipality and contract type:
Full property rental: Between €600 and €900 per month, depending on the area.
Room rental: Between €300 and €380 per month.
These limits apply only to the rent itself. Extras such as garage, storage room or community fees do not count towards the cap.
What documents do you need?
You must submit:
- A rental contract, transfer-of-use agreement, or
- A signed commitment to rent, showing the essential conditions
If you rent part of a property and the contract does not specify your share, you must include a declaration of responsibility.
How are applications awarded?
This is not a competitive process. Applications are approved on a first come, first served basis
Once the 15,000-application limit is reached, the call will close, meaning that speed matters.
How do you apply?
Applications can be submitted only online, via the Ventanilla Electronica de la Junta de Andalucia (VEAJA).
You will need:
- A digital certificate
- The State’s AutoFirma software installed
To help applicants, the housing department has published a step-by-step user guide and a frequently asked questions (FAQ) document, which are available on the Junta’s official website.
