Spain’s state rail operator Renfe has announced a new January promotion offering high-speed train tickets from €15, with low-cost Avlo fares starting from just €7.
The sale opens on Thursday January 8 and will run until January 18, or until the discounted tickets sell out.
According to Renfe, the promotion applies to travel on a wide range of services across its network, including AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Intercity, Euromed and international AVE routes, for journeys from January 8 onwards.
How the offer works
Discounted tickets will be labelled ‘Superprecio’ on Renfe’s website and mobile app. These fares are based on the operator’s most basic ticket option but can be upgraded for an additional €3 to the more flexible ‘Elige’ fare (excluding international AVE services).
The Elige option allows passengers to personalise their ticket with extras and offers benefits such as ticket changes and cancellations, making it a popular choice for travellers seeking flexibility at a relatively low cost.
Extra savings for loyalty members
Passengers enrolled in Renfe’s Mas Renfe loyalty programme will also be able to combine the Superprecio fares with points accumulation, increasing overall savings on future journeys.
The promotion is expected to attract strong demand, particularly on popular intercity routes and long-distance high-speed connections, as January traditionally marks one of the busiest periods for discounted rail travel in Spain.
