An official day of mourning has been declared in Alhaurin el Grande following the death of two family men at the weekend.
Lifelong friends Juan Francisco and Antonio Morales Serrano, aka ‘Mori’, were swept away by floods in the Malaga town while driving home from a restaurant shortly after 11pm on Saturday.
Both men, aged 53 and 54 respectively, were family men and had known each other since childhood. They shared a love of sport and were widely respected and cherished within the community.
Juan Francisco – known to most as Fran – was head of studies and a mathematics teacher at IES Los Montecillos in nearby Coin.
The school community has also expressed its shock and grief as it comes to terms with the loss.
His school said in a statement: ‘It is with tremendous sadness and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our colleague and friend Francisco Zea Bravo, Head of Studies at IES Los Montecillos and Mathematics teacher.

‘Father, husband, brother, son, teacher, colleague, friend… Eternal smile, music to our souls.
‘We have no words to describe all that you meant to us and the immense void you leave behind.
‘We join in the grief of his family and hope that he rests in peace.’
Antonio was the owner of a well-known pastry shop on the Carretera de Malaga in Alhaurin el Grande, a business closely associated with both his nickname and his warm personality.
The Alpine Benalmadena sports club wrote of Antonio: ‘The Benalmadena Alpine Club deeply regrets the passing of Antonio Francisco Morales Serrano ‘Mori’.
‘We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fellow members of the Fuente del Acebuche Mountain Club.
‘His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.’
