A leading cardiologist has given his verdict on the best fruits for your health over winter.

In a TikTok video, Aurelio Rojas said that in the colder months, your heart ‘works harder than you realise.’

He said that when it comes to cold, infections and inflammation, ‘many small choices that can make or break your health.’

Rojas ranked his three best fruits after ‘reviewing the evidence.

In third position he placed apples, explaining: ‘Rich in soluble fiber (pectin), it helps lower LDL cholesterol and improves blood sugar control.

‘Regular consumption is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.’

Winning the silver medal from Rojas was the trusted orange, which he said is high in vitamin C and flavonoids like hesperidin.

‘It strengthens the immune system, reduces inflammation, and improves arterial function,’ he added.

In pole position was kiwis, which he branded the ‘most underrated fruit.’

‘More vitamin C than oranges, rich in potassium and polyphenols,’ he said, ‘Studies show better blood pressure control and improved vascular function.’

He added: ‘In winter, choosing the right fruit is also a form of cardiovascular prevention.’
